Despite
the overcast conditions last weekend, the predicted forecast
of ten to fifteen knots was never any threat to the hundreds
of boaties that made their way to the reef.
Even
though there wasn't much movement in the tides, good catches
of Spanish Mackerel, Coral Trout, Nannygai and Red Emperors
were still taken.
The
Mackerel have been consistent for the past few weeks. The reefs
have been producing better than the inshore Islands but this
may change as the weather continues to get colder.

The
lure fisho's have been happy over the past week spending most
of the time in the freshwater reaches of the system chasing
Sooty Grunters, Jungle Perch, Tarpon, Mangrove Jacks and Small
Barra's.
Two
kilo outfits with small lures and poppers is an excellent way
to chase our freshwater species. Lure loss is very high using
two kilo line and is no sport for the feint hearted.
Queenfish
and small GT'S have been down at the mouth around the sand bars.
Using poppers by either casting them or trolling is normally
a 'sure thing' especially around the tide change.
